Pastor Charles came out to the city of New York and the world on November 7, 1998 when he allowed the New York Daily News to publish an article about his ministry in New York City. At that time he was still using his former last name, Morrow. The Daily News is one of the most popular and widely circulated papers in the world. After this article was published, he would frequently be recognized on the subways and on the streets. He received a great deal of positive and encouraging feedback from strangers he would meet while out and about the city. This photo was taken in the LGBT Community Center in Manhattan where, as Grace Oasis Ministries, he had begun to conduct weekly church services and Bible Studies. (It should be noted, the author of this article made numerous mistakes where various facts and dates were concerned. Pastor Charles was not at all thrilled with the errors and misrepresentations)
